Shakespeare Project
Reflection
The project about Shakespeare was a project to help us understand old english. We studied parts of speech and we learned a lot about Iambic Pentameter. We read many scripts and learned about acting. After we started to better understand Shakespeare we started studying a play and soon all had to audition for parts of the play. We all were given a part accept the stage directors. Working all together we put together an amazing set and produced an amazing play! This project helped me to learn new ways to write and how to improve my writing and understand older english.
I connected to this project in many ways. I learned a lot about Shakespeare and I learned a lot about acting. I connected to this project really easily because I really enjoy acting and watching plays and people act. Although I wasn’t an actor I still got to enjoy watching people act and I got a taste of what it’s like to be the director and direct everyone’s acting. The most enjoyable part of this project was performing the play. This was my favorite part of the project because it felt really accomplishing to know that this play was over and knowing that we performed it well. I enjoyed this so much because it came together really well and everything worked together. Our set was awesome and everyone acted really strongly and the play was very fun. My best moment during the project was at the end of the play when we all went on stage at the end of the play and bowed. It felt really good to know that the audience enjoyed the play as much as I enjoyed putting it on.
This project was a very stressful and difficult at times because I had to make sure that everything was moving on schedule, that everyone knew their lines, and much much more. But overall the most difficult part of this project was keeping everyone on task and making sure that everyone was doing what they were supposed to. The most challenging part of this project was working the sound system. This was a challenge because it was so complicated and complex that it was hard to figure out how to work and keep working. At one time during this project I had to work through and persevere when an issue came up where people were messing around and weren’t doing things that needed to be done to get the play going so I had to put my foot down and help get them back on track.
During this project I learned about myself that I work really well in groups and that I don’t always like being the leader of huge projects. I work really well with groups but leading them can be a really big challenge and struggle that I don’t always want to get myself into specially when I’m not as educated in the subject as I can be. I also learned about which group of people I work really well with. I am the type of learner that likes to get things done and make sure that everything was done close to perfectly and I work really well with people like that. I don’t work well with the people that sit back and watch everyone else do their work. Overall I have learned a lot personally and educationally and really enjoyed this project and I look forward to doing more like it!!

Model UN Project
If another student asked why the MUN project was important I would say for many reasons. For one I learned a lot about my country and I learned a lot about the surrounding countries. Almost everyday of the is project I learned something new and everything that I learned was interesting. Throughout this project we learned all about the UN and how both the security council and the general assembly works and how their jobs are important. A lot of the academics that we learned came from out writing and we learned a lot about how to strongly write resolutions, policy papers, persuasive essays, and speeches. This project taught me a lot about the world and I learned a lot about good writing.
Overall during the conference the habit of heart and mind thatI used the most was probably perseverance. The conference went for a few hours and was a really tense hour. Everyone wanted to make sure that they were heard and that the resolution they supported was being strongly influenced to gain more support. I think that I used perseverance the most throughout this conference because there was so much commotion and everyone was trying to talk that it was hard to do anything but listen. And as this conference went on for so long I had to use perseverance to get through the night while getting my points across.
The greatest challenge I faced during this project was probably finding good concrete evidence that was historically correct and true. This was a challenge for me because while researching I came across many inaccurate sites that I had to determine what was correct out of it and make sure that I was only reading and using accurate information. I got through this challenge by making sure that I only used specific websites that only give out accurate information.
During this conference there were a lot of really interesting and good speeches, resolutions, amendments, and comments that were made by the delegates. Personally I think that the best resolution that was presented was resolution 2a. Understanding that I did not fully agreed with this resolution I would agree that it was the strongest resolution that was proposed and I am not surprised that it made the docket and that it was the resolution that passed. I think that this resolution was one of the strongest written resolutions and it was by far the best written because it used good persuasive writing and gave lots of evidence and a strong idea.

The model UN project was about the United Nations and how they work together and how our world problems are solved. This project was also about each of us learning about our country and the surrounding countries. We learned that each country played a part in the UN and we learned about the select countries that had a higher part to play in the conference. Through this project we did a lot of writing and researching that was very beneficial to our work. This project was very educational and I learned a lot throughout this project.

Mask Project
Socialization
By: Lauren Brown
Suicide: “to kill oneself”. Depression nearly kills 1 person every 14.2 minutes. The worlds approximate population today is 7.113 billion people and about 2000 people commit suicide daily due to depression. That means that there are around 787,761 suicidal deaths a year and 922,725 annual attempts each year. And there are about 134,964 failed attempts each year
I think that the main cause of suicide is the media and how we are socialized. The media has a very strong influence on how we present ourselves, dress, and act. We are socialized to think that girls should wear skirts and dresses, and that guys should wear brand name shirts and jeans. Girls are taught to wear makeup, show their emotions, to cave into the more dominate sex, etc. Guys are socialized to be the more powerful gender, hide their emotions, be the provider, etc.
The way that our society is socializing our generation is with false illusions and inaccurate information, which I think is causing suicide. We are being socialized to think that we are either good enough or not good enough. I think that a lot of people that feel that they are not good enough and develop and insecurity inside them that makes them feel as if they are different and have a boundary between themselves and others. When a person feels uncomfortable with themselves they push themselves away for others and become lonely creating a sadness inside them. And when a person is sad they become depressed which can lead to anything from self harm to suicide.
I think that one of suicides main causes is the media and how we are socialized. As a girl I am being socialized to think that I need to be perfect. The media is creating evidence of “perfect girls” by photo shopping and airbrushing women to make them look as beautiful and perfect as they can. When an average teenage girl is exposed to such media and influences there is a desire to be like that women in the advertisement. And when an average teenage male is exposed to ads with airbrushed perfect women it creates an image of how they think women should look.
When we are being socialized we are being socialized by words and also pictures. Males and females are exposed to pictures of very masculine men with exposed muscles and pictures of very skinny, curvy, beautiful women and we are all expected to look like what the media shows us. Which in most cases is not possible because it is all false imagery.
In conclusion I think that we are being mostly negatively socialized by gender. I think that our society should start teaching our generation that beauty is not only skin deep and that everyone is beautiful in their own way. No one should try to fit in and everyone should feel comfortable with the way they are naturally. If society started socializing us to feel that we are perfect just the way we are I think that there will not be as much insecurity and there would be less teenage depression and suicide.
Mask Reflection
I think that I am most proud of the contrast of the mask. My mask shows how we are affected negatively by socialization and also how we are supposed to be affected. I feel like this was the strongest point on my mask because it clearly stated how I feel about socialization. And it showed people how false socialization is towards women.
My biggest take away is knowing how horribly we are socialized and how we are being so negatively socialized.
The habit of heart and mind that I need to work on most for my future projects is revision. I feel like I need to work on this because when it comes to big projects I just try to get it done as fast as I can and I don't take my time to go back and improve my work so that I can get a better grade. This habit of heart and mind I think would really help me in high school by teaching me how to look at my work in a different way and fix it. High school is the most important schooling before college because high school is what prepares you for college and high school grades
